Mayak Film was founded in Moscow in 1995, at a time when Laurent Stoop was living in Russia and working with several television channels.

In 2005, Mayak Film moved to Zurich, while continuing its activities in Russia.

In 2014, the company took a new direction when Laurent met Svetlana. Together, they devoted themselves to making their own documentary films for the cinema, while continuing their work with television. In 2022, Mayak Film GmbH ceased its operations in Russia for good.

The originality of their collaboration lies in their combined Russian-Swiss perspective and expertise and particular interest in the post-Soviet space, combined with a direct and immersive cinematic approach.
